7 Reasons for a Woman's Global Outreach Ministry

Sudanese Woman
  1. In 1900, there were 45 Women's Global Outreach Societies. According to Gordon-Conwell research, at the turn of millennium there were no global outreach ministries that focused exclusively on women.
  2. According to unreached people research, 80% of unreached individuals are women and children.
  3. Women suffer disproportionately in this troubled world. They are the "least of these." Overall, women and girls are the least-valued, least-fed, least-educated, least-reached individual.
    • 90% of Afghan women cannot read one alphabet of their own language.
    • 80% of all refugees are women and children.
    • Every year 2 million girls undergo female mutilation/circumcision - 500,000 of them die as a result of this barbaric practice
    • Thousands of girls are sold into the sex slave trade every year in IndoChina and Sudan.
  4. Women as the spiritual "heart of the home" are bringing up the next generation. And these generations are short indeed. It is a mere 12 years between the time many a baby boy is born and he is sent away to a military training camp. Moms shape the future of their world.
  5. In restrictive nations, where most of the unreached reside, it is inappropriate for men to go face to face to share the good news of God's love, and help them grow in their faithwalk.
  6. Women's outreach is often at the bottom of the global outreach strategy and budgets. Reaching women and children is not PART of what SIS does; it is ALL SIS does.
  7. Women CARE! We care when we hear about women around the world who endure injustice and loss of dignity. We want to be involved in making a difference for those who suffer without knowing God loves and treasures them. We want to stand up and to speak up. We want to make a difference for them and for our troubled world.

"Whatever you did for the least of these ... you did for Me." Jesus
