Health and Nutrition Education for Mothers in Senegal
In Senegal, a country in Western Africa, 68% of the population lives on less than $2 a day. Most women in rural villages lack education and income to improve their living conditions. Sadly, the infant mortality rate is 77 per 1000 compared to the 7 per 1000 in the United States.
With the support of SIS, teams of local Christian women make weekly visits to rural villages. They teach the village women about health and nutrition, share the gospel and pray for individual needs.
As women learn proper healthcare and hygiene, children improve weight gain and become sick less often. The faithful service of Christian women is bringing help and hope to needy women and children in Senegal.
Bringing the gospel and health education to one woman for one year: $58
Total need: $28,750
