Giving Opportunities
Vocational Training Provides New Opportunities for Women of Mali
Mali is the fourth poorest country in the world. Seventy-two percent of the population makes less than $1.00 per day. Many women and children have been abandoned. Mothers with little or no means of income are often trying to support as many as 8 children.
A vocational women's center provides nine months of training in skills such as sewing, tie-dye, and literacy. Graduates of the nine-month program receive a sewing machine in order to start small businesses. The income that graduates can earn helps support their children, and provides hope for a better future.
In a country where few people know Jesus and 38 people groups remain unreached, sewing lessons and sewing machines are a powerful, tangible expression of God's love.
Sewing machine and vocational training for one woman: $250
Total need: $25,000
