Egyptian Young People Break the Cycle of Abuse
In Egypt, the majority of the men and women believe that wife-beating is acceptable, and more than 30% of women are abused. A survey among Egyptian adolescents found that more than 35% had been the victim of emotional, physical or sexual abuse. Without intervention, the cycle of abuse will continue.
A new program based around small group teaching and discussion is equipping adolescent girls and boys to identify, express, and manage emotions; detect and correct thinking errors; and set healthy boundaries within relationships. Finally, the silence is being broken and new, healthier habits are forming.
Help the young people in Egypt find healing from the past and hope for the future.
