Microloans Ease Poverty for Afghans

Years of political and economic turmoil have left many Afghan communities in poverty. Often, women and children pay the highest price, suffering from malnutrition with little hope of escaping the heavy impact of poverty.

Small business owners in Afghanistan do not have the benefit of a viable banking industry. Those trying to make improvements and contribute to the economy are often exploited by lenders charging exorbitant interest rates.

SIS is helping a local implementer provide microloans to qualified Kabul business owners, especially women. With your assistance, 50 Afghan small business owners can receive loans of $280-$300 at 1.5% interest. In turn, an estimated 250 family members of business owners will benefit from increased income.

Your investment will impact a community and make a difference for women and children in need.
