Giving Opportunities
Warm Homes for Tibetan Women and Children
Despite China's rapid economic growth, adequate shelter for Tibetan minorities is scarce. Because women have little opportunity to earn an income, households headed by widows and single mothers suffer disproportionately. Their families barely survive the harsh winters.
Our sister ministry is providing these families with sturdy brick homes to shelter them from the cold and wild animals. The local government furnishes stoves, stovepipes, and cooking pots.
The impact of a home is life-changing. Children no longer spend their days repairing tattered tents, so they can go to school. Women can use their home equity to secure a loan and start a small business.
Hundreds of families await housing. Our initial goal is to build 18 brick houses for 18 single mothers and grandmothers, and 42 children.
One brick house with stove for one single mom and her children: $2,227
Total cost of 18 houses: $40,086
If only 18 families in the United States would fund one home each, imagine the blessings that will flow for generations!
